All you who were Pokémon fans before you knew what a training bra was, ok some of you guys still don’t and you still are trying to become the ultimate Pokémon master trainer. Well apparently it has become REAL!!! That’s right, it wasn’t real when you were 6.
Now with Pokémon GO you can “capture, battle, and train virtual Pokémon who appear throughout the real world.” Imagine THAT!!
“As players travel the real world” this app you can down load on the handheld device that already occupies so much of your time and this app will direct you to find a “Pokémon as though it were in the real world.” This app is free to download but it will try to sucker you into buying some virtual crap that will make your destructive separation from the real world that much more idiotic.
To make you fall deeper into your virtual experience, the developers have designed a “number of PokéStops and Pokémon gyms” which are located at “popular meeting places, such as memorials, places of worship, parks, and tourist attractions.” This feature will allow the trainer to participate with their virtual reality while they are worshiping at church, taking their real children to the park, visiting the gorillas in the zoo, or standing in front of the Statute of Liberty or the Vietnam Memorial.
I apologize for my rhetoric and my negativity, for I know individuals who adore these little Japanese creations. I also know that these individuals will spend so much of their valuable lives with their thumbs tapping their phones. HELLO PEOPLE!!! the REAL world is waiting for you to participate. Think about all the effort you put into your virtual reality and how that could actually be used to better our real society.
Do you honestly think that who were placed upon this world to be lost in some electronic device that separates what real and what is never going to be real? Do think that your proud parents looked upon you at the most precious moment of your birth and dreamed that one day you would become the Grandest Pokémon Trainer of the Virtual world?
Have we become so socially incompetent that we can no longer function in what is real? Look at the beauty of what has been created around you, take a walk, smell the flowers, listen to the birds, and meet other people. Eventually this virtual crap will either completely consume you or die out and what will you have gained from it. The only thing there will be is the loss of your time and opportunities.
If you wish to go on some scavenger hunt … GREAT!! … go find something REAL that matters. Better yet, get a bunch of like-minded friends to put down their phones and stop searching for some avatar you cannot even touch and plan out a scavenger hunt for children in the area who wish they had something to do. Don’t fall into the virtual trap of being locked into your little handheld devices. Let these Pokemon GO and GO empower your future.
